iPhone Dev team member with a handle, "Comex', released the tool through a website, jailbreak.com, User opens the site though Safari mobile browser on their iPhone. Works on iPhone 3G/3GS/4 running iOS 4/4.0.1.
Early users complained about non functioning of Facetime and MMS after jailbreak. Comex could reproduce the problem and said, through twitter, that fix is on the way. Previous jailbreak procedures involved running a software on PC/Mac while the phone is tethered. This is the the first time a jailbreak process exploits the Safari browser to access the root.
Note:
Jailbreak allows to run third party apps that were rejected from Appstore to run on iPhone. Jailbreak is legal, safe, and free according to iPhone Dev team. Jailbreak voids warrenty.
Users are recommenced to wait for the aforementioned fix and then jailbreak their iPhones.
